Union Township Soccer Fields

From I-70 and South

We recommend PA-43, the Mon Valley Expressway, as the fastest route from I-70. Take PA-43 North 11.7 miles to Finleyville / West Elizabeth (exit 48). At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto Finley-Elrama Road; follow this road 1.3 miles into Finleyville (about 0.4 miles from the ramp, Finley-Elrama Road makes a sharp left at a T-intersection with Stone Church Road, and becomes Washington Avenue). In Finleyville, turn right at the light onto PA-88; stay straight onto Brownsville Road Extension at the next light where PA-88 turns left (about 0.6 miles from the Washington Avenue intersection.) Continue up the hill 0.4 miles to the Union Township Recreation Center, on the right.

Alternatively, if you don't have loose change, follow PA-88 North through Monongahela, New Eagle, and Finleyville, to Brownsville Road Extension; continue up the hill 0.4 miles to the Union Township Recreation area, on the right. PA-88 makes numerous sharp turns, some away from the normal direction of travel (the road goes straight, but Route 88 turns off), so watch roadsigns carefully. Note that travel time from I-70 is about 20 minutes via PA-43, and about 40 minutes via PA-88.

From the North

From the near north (Pittsburgh and south of the city), follow PA-51 south to Pleasant Hills and exit on the South Park ramp (Yellow Belt) at the Lebanon Church Road / Curry Hollow Road cloverleaf. In Curry (approximately 1.4 miles and 7 traffic lights from PA-51), bear left onto Brownsville Road; stay in the right lane and follow Brownsville Road to the right 0.3 miles later. Stay on Brownsville another 3 miles (through South Park), and go straight (passing two stop signs) onto Brownsville Road Extension at the "Cogo's Intersection" (known locally as Piney Fork). Follow Brownsville Road Extension over the top of the hill and about halfway down the other side to the Union Township Recreation Center, on the left about 1.5 miles from the Piney Fork intersection). Travel time from PA-51 at the Pleasant Hills cloverleaf is 15 - 20 minutes.

From the northwest and far north (Coraopolis, Cranberry)

Make your way south to PA-51: take I-279 and I-579 south to the Liberty Tunnels, and then take PA-51 south to Pleasant Hills.

From the West

Well, West is a pretty big area, but more than likely you'll follow either I-70 or US-22/30 to I-79. From I-70 follow I-79 north to Canonsburg (exit 45), and turn right onto Weavertown Road at the end of the ramp, then turn left (north) on PA-19 approximately 2.9 miles; or, from US-22/30, follow I-79 south to Canonsburg (exit 46) and turn left onto McClelland Road at the end of the ramp, following McClelland and turn left onto PA-19 (at the King's restaurant) approximately 1.8 miles. Both these directions will take you to Donaldson's Crossroads shopping center in McMurray, where you turn right onto East McMurray Road for 2.5 miles and then turn right onto Valley Brook Road. Follow Valley Brook 0.6 miles to its end at a T-intersection; turn right (and under the stone bridge) on Bebout Road 1.5 miles and turn left on Turkeyfoot Road. Follow Turkeyfoot Road to PA-88 (approximately 1.4 miles -- Turkeyfoot becomes Trax Road just before it meets PA-88) and turn right onto PA-88 approximately 1.8 miles then left at the traffic light onto Brownsville Road Extension, and 0.4 miles to the Union Township Recreation Center, on the right. Travel time is about 30 minutes from I-79.

At Finleyville's Fields

Parking is available in two areas, immediately as you enter and at the bottom of the hill, but parking at the bottom of the hill is limited; please plan to park at the top of the hill and walk to the fields.

Fields are in two areas: U-8 is at the top of the hill opposite the entrance and main parking area (U-6 is immediately at the top and U-8 is just beyond); the U-10 / U-11 / U-12 field is on the left at the bottom of the hill. For those with limited mobility, arrangements can be made to drop off adjacent to the U-6 fields; please drive through the gate beyond the service building, and see a Finleyville officer or coach if the gate is closed.

Restrooms are located in the service building in the lower parking area.
